Climate Change Impact on the Crops Calendar

An event entitled “Climate Change Impact on the Crops Calendar” being organized by Farmers Development Organization (FDO), Pakistan and CARE Pakistan collaboration with Institute of Agronomy, Bahauddin Zakariya University of Multan in Ramada Hotel, Multan. There were different key stakeholders/representatives from academia, research, Punjab Agriculture Department, Federal Government Organizations, Private Sector Organizations, Semi-Government Organizations, different Non-government organizations (NGO’s) representatives discussed the potential impacts of climate change and their solutions on major crops including wheat, cotton, potato, rice, sugarcane and maize were discussed. As a National Speaker, Prof. Dr Wajid Nasim Jatoi, Director, International Center for Climate Change, Food Security & Sustainability (ICCFS) & Professor, Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture & Environment, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) leads RICE CROP GROUP & after detailed discussion with key experts of rice crop recommendations, represent the short presentation RICE CROP UNDER CLIMATE CHANGE IMPACT & POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS and suggested the possible solutions to adopt the possible impact of climate change to get maximum yield within available inputs by adjusting rice crop/agronomic management. At the end, the representative from Punjab Agriculture Department directed organizers to submit the report of event and also highly appreciate the suggestions from all crops experts and ensure to include in policy level interventions and try to implement as early as possible.
