International Climate Modeling Workshop at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB), Pakistan

The “1st International Workshop on Climate Modelling” successfully hosted by The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) – Pakistan on 16th June 2026, jointly supported by the “Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) R&D Cluster on Climate Change” and the *International APN Research Project leads by Small Earth Nepal”. The event received more than 127 participants registrations and around 50 participants attends in person (physical mode) whiles others joined online, across Pakistan and globally. This event was presided by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran, Vice Chancellor, IUB-Pakistan, and graced by distinguished guests of honors including Dr. Malik Muhammad Yousaf, Member (Coordination & Monitoring), PARC, Islamabad; Prof. Dr. Tanveer Hussain Turabi, Dean Faculty of Agriculture & Environment, IUB; Prof. Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad Chattha, Vice Chancellor Ghazi University DG Khan; Ms. Susa Manandhar, Small Earth Nepal (SEN) introduced the International APN Project, while Prof. Dr. Atta-Ur-Rehman, University of Peshawar delivered a keynote on “Extreme weather events and climate resilience in Pakistan” in an inaugural session of event. The technical sessions featured a distinguished lineup of national and international speakers. Our distinguished master trainers of this event were Ms. Zeba Gul, Urban Planning and Policy Unit, KPK-Pakistan, presented “Pakistan's climate and climate change, and led intensive hands-on training sessions on climate modelling tools and datasets”. While Mr. Jaam Rehmatullah, Department of Agronomy, FA&E, IUB-Pakistan, co-delivered practical training exercises on climate modelling throughout the technical sessions of day. 
Excellent remarks were delivered by Dr. Dhiraj Pradhananga, Project Lead of the International APN Project, Nepal; Prof. Mirza Hasanuzzaman, Collaborator from Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Bangladesh; and Prof. Dr. Nazim Hussain, Dean & Principal Investigator of the PHEC R&D Cluster on Climate Change, Bahauddin Zakerya University, Multan – Pakistan. The workshop was held under a collaborative project partnership between IUB and Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), Multan through the PHEC R&D Cluster on Climate Change, a flagship initiative uniting Punjab’s leading university to advance climate research and The APN international Research Project leads by Small Earth Nepal (SEN) making this a truly cross-border academic endeavours. Prof Dr Muhammad Kamran, Vice Chancellor, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB), Pakistan awarded certificates to successful physical participants. At the end, Prof. Dr Wajid Nasim Jatoi, Director, International Center for Climate Change, Food Security and Sustainability (ICCFS), The IUB-Pakistan appreciate all the delegates, students from schools, colleges, universities, community members for participation and highly acknowledge the financial support jointly from “PHEC Cluster on Climate Change” and “International APN Project and marking a significant milestone in capacity building and learning of climate modeling tools in higher education research landscape. Furthermore, this event jointly organized by International Center for Climate Change, Food Security and Sustainability (ICCFS), The IUB-Pakistan, Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), Agri Community College, Faculty of Agriculture and Environment (FA&E), The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB)- Pakistan.
