An International Seminar being organized by one of the Partners of Consortium on Climate Change, Sustainability & Conservation (CCSC), The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB). The event was hosted by the Institute for Global Health and Development, The Aga Khan University Karachi, Pakistan in collaboration with Development and Sustainable Development Solutions Network, Pakistan. The Scientists and policy advisors expressed serious concerns about the foreseen water crises in Pakistan. Water scarcity has become a serious threat to Pakistan’s sustainable development and economic growth. The country may face an alarming level of water scarcity by 2025.
The increased flooding and drainage problems getting worse by 2050, especially in the lower Indus Basin. ‘We must support bold and pragmatic approaches to reconstruction, including water and climate research networks and Indus Basin models with health and well-being at the core’, he stated. Furthermore, Engr. Prof. Dr Athar Mahboob (TI), Patron-in-Chief/Vice Chancellor, CCSC-IUB, Prof. Dr. Shazia Anjum (Patron CCSC-IUB) highly appreciate AKU for continuous collaboration and creating opportunities for CCSC-IUB.
