An International Day of Climate Action was organized with aims to raise awareness about climate change and promote proactive solutions to combat its impact, by IUB Climate Change Society, in collaboration with the IUB Agrarian Society-Faculty of Agriculture & Environment (IUB), IUB Environmental Protection Society, and the International Centre for Climate Change, Food Security and Sustainability (ICCFS) The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB). The seminar brought together esteemed guests from both academia and environmental organizations. The Guest of Honours includes Prof. Dr. Tanvir Hussain Turabi, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Environment; Prof. Dr. Shazia Anjum, Patron-Consortium on Climate Change, Sustainability & Conservation (CCSF) & Dean of the Faculty of Chemical and Biological Sciences; Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aown Sammar Raza, Chairman, Department of Agronomy; Mr. Gulraiz Khan, Project Coordinator for WWF-Pakistan; and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Adnan Bukhari, Additional Director of Student Affairs, Advisors, Co-advisors & faculty members from different department as well. Their presence highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing climate change and fostering environmental sustainability. In their remarks, the speakers collectively emphasized the vital role of scientific research and sustainable agricultural practices in combating climate change. They called for enhanced collaboration among academia, industry, and grassroots organizations to foster innovative solutions. Furthermore, the need to engage and empower youth in climate action was stressed, highlighting that education and awareness are essential for driving positive environmental change. Their message served as a powerful call to action for all stakeholders to unite in addressing the climate crisis. Prof. Dr. Wajid Nasim Jatoi, Advisor-IUB Climate Change Society, thanked guest of honors, faculty, students, WWF-Pakistan, Office of Estate Care & all stakeholders for their collaboration, cooperation and support and emphasizee the critical importance of environmental stewardship and collaboration in addressing the challenges posed by climate change. Lastly, a plantation drive was conducted in conjunction with the seminar, symbolizing collective action toward a greener and more sustainable future. The event was bolstered by WWF-Pakistan’s generous donation of plants for the drive. Special thanks were extended to the WWF-Pakistan team and the Office of Estate Care, IUB whose support made the initiative a successfull.
