National Experts Visited Faculty of Agriculture and Environment (Cholistan Institute of Desert Studies-CIDS, leads by Dr Muhammad Abdullah, Director CIDS and his team, Department of Horticulture leads by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nafees and his team (Dr. Muhammad Amin and Dr Muhammad Ishtiaq), The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB), to visit the field experimentation trials for possible execution of RDI (Response Drip Irrigation) System known to be new generation smart irrigation saving technologies for fruit trees (orchard) that save more than 50% of water than we save in drip irrigation technology and this technology is utilized in vegetables, fruit trees and field crops etc. There are multiple projects the team is interested to have installation of “Model Demonstration Field Trials” for RDI System for The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB). Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar (Vice Chancellor) appreciate the efforts and support from Pakistan Agricultural Research Center (PARC), Islamabad. The detail presentation given by Dr Bashir Ahmad, Director, Climate, Energy and Water Resources (CEWRI), National Agricultural Research Center (NARC), Islamabad along other colleagues from NARC, Islamabad. Prof. Dr. Tanveer Hussain Turabi, Dean Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, IUB highly acknowledge CEWRI-NARC Islamabad for providing the opportunity for students of IUB for capacity building and learning of early career researchers to get benefit from it. At the end, being the Focal Person of this joint-venture between NARC & IUB, Prof. Dr. Wajid Nasim Jatoi, Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, thank the delegation for their visit and for great practical collaboration between two institutes that is of millions of rupees and definitely it will give lot of learning, capacity building and practical knowledge to students and faculty of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur.
