An event on “01 day training on sugarcane varieties identification and production technology” being organized by Sugarcane Research Development Board (SRDB) and hosted by Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB). The event was welcomed by Prof. Dr. Tanveer Hussain Turabi (Dean FA&E) and briefed by Dr Shahid Afghan (CEO, SRDB). The event includes technical/research findings by sugarcane researchers/scientists, farmers, delegates from Ashraf Sugar Mills, Ittefaq Sugar Mills, Adam Sugar Mills, Master Trainers from Ayub Agriculture Faisalabad, Faculty Members, Students and private partners were present in this event. The main objectives of this event was to enables participants to identify key sugarcane varieties grown in various agro-climatic zones in Pakistan and also to enhance the capacity building as well as knowledge about innovative production technology, adaptability integrated management of fertilizers irrigation, pest-insects, diseases and weeds of sugarcane sustainability of all stakeholders/participants. Prof. Dr Muhammad Kamran, Vice Chancellor, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB), warmly welcome organizers (Ch. Muhammad Zaka Ashraf, Chairman SRDB, Dr Shahid Afghan CEO SRDB, Prof Dr Asif Tanveer, Eminent Scientist, SRDB, Muhammad Imran from Ashraf Sugar Mills and all participants) and offers kind support, encouragement and great response from IUB for the research and development of sugarcane in Bahawalpur region. Furthermore, he distributes the certificates among participants and shield of honor were presented by Dr Shahid Afghan, (CEO), Prof Dr Asif Tanveer (Eminent Scientist), Mian Umair Mustafa, Muhammad Ehsan Khan from SRDB to Prof Dr Muhammad Kamran, VC-IUB. At the end, in concluding remarks Prof. Dr Wajid Nasim Jatoi (Focal Person of Event from IUB) thank SRDB for giving this great opportunity to host this excellent event and extend future collaboration, cooperation and support with different stakeholders for serving the society in research and development in national cause. In this webinar, the possible joint-ventures and collaborative initiatives were discussed to be started between Istanbul Technical University and The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB), Pakistan.
